UiTM - Sarawak youth must embrace ICT

KANOWIT: Sarawak has welcomed the federal government's commitment to develop the state's information and communications technology infrastructure, Housing Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said.
He said this would certainly augur well for the young generation because they could become computer savvy besides being more knowledgeable.
When asked if the absence of a stable power supply, especially in the state's rural areas, would pose a problem, he said the Government is studying the use of solar energy as an alternative source.
"We are doing this with experts from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, UiTM, Unimas and others. We hope to produce a solar-cell model in five to 10 years time," he said.
Abang Johari, who is also president of Saberkas, the state's premier youth body with more than 130,000 members, said the organisation is encouraging its members to be computer savvy.
He said it will start a technology-driven greenhouse agriculture project in Paloh, Samarahan, next year. - Bernama
